Elton John's hatred for Madonna is nothing new. The singer has enjoyed blasting the pop diva whenever the opportunity beckons. However, his latest attack may have gone too far.
In reference to Madonna's latest tour and criticism of Lady Gaga, John, 65, stated during an interview Sunday with Australia's Channel 7 that Madonna was "stripper"and that her tour was a "disaster."
"She's such a nightmare," he said. "Her career is over, I can tell you that. Her tour has been a disaster and it couldn't happen to a bigger [expletive]."
"If Madonna had any common sense, she would have made a record like Ray of Light, stayed away from the dance stuff, and just been a great pop singer and made great pop records, which she does brilliantly. But no, she had to prove that she was like . . ." John continued. "And she looks like a [expletive] fairground stripper.
"She's been so horrible to [Lady] Gaga."
The comments were strong that even John's PR staff was unhappy. According to contactmusic.com, John's PR staff immediately tried to derail the comments as fabricated, but when they lost that battled resorted to claiming the statements were off the hook.
John's attack followed up his husband's own against the pop star when she beat John for the Best Original Song Award at the Golden Globes.
"Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism," wrote John's husband David Furnish on his Facebook page.
Despite John's attacks on her, Madonna has never been caught firing back. In fact after the Globes victory Madonna stated that she hoped that John would continue talking to her despite the victory.
