Phil Mickelson got on a roll early, paired up with the top two ranked golfers in the world in Tiger Woods and Adam Scott, shooting a 63 at the Deutsche Bank Championship and tied for first with Brian Davis.

Mickelson, ranked 3rd in the world, bogeyed at the first hole (10th hole of the day), before earning an eagle on the second hole and landing five consecutive pars. Mickelson would bogey the eighth hole before getting a birdie on the 9th to end the day.

"It was a good start," said Mickelson. "I got off to a great front nine and somewhat stalled on the back. But after shooting seven under for the first nine, it was going to be a good round as long as I didn't mess it up."

Woods, who played through back spasms at last week's Barclays tournament, shot three-under 68, tied for 34th with 10 other golfers.

"Missed a few opportunities out there," said Woods after his round. "The golf course is really receptive and certainly gettable. I didn't hit the ball as well as I'd like to, but I scored all right. I didn't give myself a lot of looks."

Woods does not believe that last week's injury will hamper him throughout the weekend.

"The back is good. Unfortunately, I didn't give myself a whole lot of looks," said Woods.

Scott, the 2013 Masters champion, struggled throughout the day. Scott shot a 73 and is tied for 87th place.

"I wish could have gotten in [Woods' and Mickelson's] their jet stream," Scott joked with reporters.
