Netflix did it again. Fans are swooning over the network's newest series, "Orange Is the New Black." It's one of several shows that it's released exclusively on its Watch Instantly Channel, following in the footsteps of its smash hit "House of Cards" and fourth season of "Arrested Development." Whether its the content of the series, the viewing experience, or a likely combination of the two, Netflix continues to give fans what they want.
And fans want more "Orange Is the New Black." In the wake of its debut season and chilling season finale, they're desperately waiting for details on a sophomore season. Lucky for them, it's already on its way.
But tragedy has already struck. Fans are grappling with the potential loss of Laura Prepon, who plays Piper's lesbian love interest and codefendant inside the all female penitentiary. Not only that, but she's the reason Piper is incarcerated in the first place. A relationship can't get much more dramatic. Unfortunately, although nothing has been officially confirmed, signs hint that Prepon will be returning to Season 2 for a brief farewell before parting from the show completely.
However, remember that with every tragedy there's a silver lining. Her departure would make room for new characters and new relationships, and to that tune, TVLine confirms that Netflix is casting an older sister for Yael Stone's Bostonian inmate Lorna. Francine, who's described as "a little rough around the edges, which could be said for every inmate locked behind bars, has moved back into her and Lorna's childhood home with their siblings, incompetent parents and her own three kids.
As the Prepon plot unfolds, more information regarding the show's recovery from the potential loss will help ail the crippling blow. The future is bright for the hit Netflix series, which will return in 2014.
