Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara has stated that his coach Pep Guardiola is like any other coach in Europe.
"Guardiola really is like any other coach," Thiago said, according to Goal.com. "When things go well, he is satisfied, but he can get angry as well when things don't go according to plan...Pep can get upset just like anyone else. He is always fair, though, and treats all his players the same."
Alcantara is currently nursing a torn ligament and is expected out for about seven weeks. He was brought into Munich this summer and has been known as a versatile player that can play up to four positions. However, when asked which he preferred, the young Spaniard did not hesitate.
"I am happy to play in both positions, but a more advanced role where I play closer to the goal suits me best," he said.
Guardiola's Munich side was criticized early on for lacking the pace and offensive potency of last year's treble winning side. However, a number of players have already come to the defense of the man who transformed Barcelona into one of the greatest club teams of all time.
"The contact with him and the players, the warmth he brings - I have all I need to feel good," midfielder Franck Ribery said, according to Sport Pulse. "I have already had many conversations with him. I have got to know him well, and vice versa."
"It's not that I need to feel important but I need a good relationship with the coach," he added. "A hello, a little pat on the back, some praise - these things give me confidence, and only when I have that can I also give my best."
