'How I Met Your Mother' Season 9 Spoilers: Ted 'Moves On,' Offers Robin an Important Parting Gift

The beginning of the end is drawing near. While it’s time to say goodbye, it’s imperative to savor and cherish every last moment we have. “How I Met Your Mother” is entering its ninth and final season next month, but as crippling as the blow may be, remember that there’s still a full season to enjoy while we look back on the heartfelt moments that made the series such a success.

As the countdown to the season premiere begins, fans are planning ahead to how they’re going to spend their final months with the lovable gang. There are a handful of underlying themes and plot lines that will play out during the final episodes, but none as pertinent as Robin and Ted’s relationship. Although Robin is set to tie the knot with Barney, fans continue to root for the underdog, hoping he can gather the courage to tell her exactly how he feels.

In a new batch of photos from the upcoming episode, the coveted locket appears be front and center. Although uncertain, it appears as though Ted is handing over Robin’s “something old” and letting go of his former lover but current love. We'll see how long that lasts. Check out the photos above. 

Other exciting “How I Met Your Mother” news comes from the back end of the season. According to TVLine, the ninth episode will be called “Mom and Dad” and will introduce fans to Robin’s French-Canadian cousin, Claude, who may have been involved in questionable hockey-related matters. At least Ted’s confident that he’s guilty, but for what exactly, we still don’t know.

“How I Met Your Mother” will return to CBS for its one-hour season premiere on September 23.
