Every night before going to bed, "50 Shades of Grey" fans dream of waking up to a whole new world. They dream of decisiveness. They dream of confirmation. They dream of getting out of bed, turning on their computers, and reading up on author E. L. James and director Sam Taylor-Johnson's announcement regarding who will play the roles of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. Every morning these fans are disappointed. They awake to indecisiveness. They awake to unconfirmation. They awake to fervent rumors of who fans hope will snag the roles.
Most contenders have yet to even comment on their 'candidacy' while those that have aren't even in consideration. There's been nothing from the "50 Shades" head honchos. The casting arena is purely fueled by hopeful speculations. However, that's what keeps fans alive. That's what helps them cope with the casting silence. You could hear a pin from a mile away. But the silence is about to be broken, shattered, torn open, ravaged and tossed to the ground to wither and die. It’s all coming to an end, and looking back, fans share no sympathy for the past.
It’s true. After labor day the “official offers” will be announced. “Offers” likely indicates the final casting decisions, but in a worst case situation we should at least get the studio’s top two or three Ana and Christian choices. Not just fan generated candidates, but actual, legitimate, probable candidates. For those of you scrambling for your calendars, Labor Day is a mere week away. One week. It seems too good to be true, but it could be real this time around. After all, shooting has to begin this fall in order to be ready for the film’s August 1, 2014 debut.
So now it’s crunch time. It’s your last chance to let the world know who you want to see get down and dirty on the big screen. So what do you say?
