The biggest transfer story of the summer will surge to its climax when Chelsea takes on Manchester United in the English Premier League.

Wayne Rooney has been the central character in this story as he has been pursued by Chelsea and asked for a transfer request from his current club Manchester United.

Controversial Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho took a shot at his opponents on Sunday the evening prior to the fateful encounter.

"They are against me?" Mourinho said, according to The Guardian. "But I didn't say [to Rooney] you will be a second-choice for me. And they are against me?

"We are trying to get a player that a manager told 'You will be a second option' for him. We are not going for Van Persie. They don't have to be against me," he added. "If I say Ramires is a second option for me and he plays when Lampard is tired or injured, if someone comes here to get Ramires, nobody is upset."

United enters the match with one win in the campaign. Last week, the reigning Premier League champs pulled off a 4-1 victory against Swansea City. However, Chelsea has won both of its opening games. The Blues opened their season with a 2-0 win over Hull City before taking down Aston Villa 2-1 in their second match of the campaign.

Many believe that the clubs are among the favorites to win the title. Chelsea's Oscar thinks his club has the distinct advantage.

"If we win we can open up a gap of six points to Manchester United already, in addition to the fact they're the champions and the importance a victory against them has," Oscar said in an interview with the club's official website. "We know it will be difficult but nevertheless we know we can win at Old Trafford. We did it last year and we'll hope to accomplish the same this year. It's obviously a very important match, and the first of two in succession with Manchester United and Bayern Munich, which are clearly big for us."

Prediction: The two sides battle to a 2-2 draw.
