"Chicago PD," the spinoff of hit series "Chicago Fire," will debut on NBC next season. Instead of following the lives of Chicago firefighters, the new series will focus on the lives of the men and women who patrol the streets of the Windy City.

TVLine reports that the series has added two new cast members to the nascent show. Sophia Bush of "One Tree Hill" will be joining the cop-drama, as well as "The 4400's" Patrick Flueger.

Bush will portray Erin Lindsay, a member of the Chicago PD investigative team who has an unusual past. Bush recently starred in CBS' cancelled show "Partners," as well as NBC's doomed pilot for "Hatfields & McCoys," in which Flueger was also a cast member.

Flueger will play Kyle Ruzek, a headstrong rookie cop picked by Voight (Jason Beghe) from the police academy to do hazardous and precarious undercover work for the Intelligence Unit.

After last season's finale of "Chicago Fire" it was rumored that Peter (Charlie Barnett) may also be joining the cast of the new spinoff. Last season left Peter heartbroken by Dawson (Monica Raymund), who told him that she still has feelings for Casey (Jesse Spencer). On the same day, Peter found out that he didn't make the rescue squad. This prompted him to get an application at the Police Department training center, making viewers believe that he was trading in his firefighting suit for a police uniform. However, this rumor has been neither confirmed nor denied.

"Chicago PD" will focus on District 21 of the Chicago Police Department, which is comprised of two distinct groups. The uniformed cops patrol the beat and battle street crime. On the other end is the Intelligence Unit, which combats the city's major illegalities: drug trafficking, organized crime, high profile murders and more.

"Chicago PD" is slated to premiere midseason.
