A little over a month after being acquitted in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman was spotted in public yet again--this time going gun shopping.

The 29-year-old former neighborhood watch captain reportedly paid a visit to Kel-Tec CNC Industries, the gun manufacturer that made the pistol he used to kill Trayvon Martin. According to TMZ.com, Zimmerman went to the firearm maker's headquarters in Cocoa, Fla. on Thursday to shop for a 12-gauge shotgun capable of firing 12 times before reloading.

However, Kel-Tec's website states no firearms are sold at the Cocoa plant, notes the Orlando Sentinel.

TMZ also released a photograph of Zimmerman smiling and shaking hands with a man wearing safety goggles and a Kel-Tec T-shirt standing inside what was described as the Kel-Tec plant. [See photo.]

Zimmerman was acquitted of murder on July 13 in the February 2012 fatal shooting of Martin, an unarmed black teen who was on his way home from a convenience store. Zimmerman shot him once using his legally purchased 9 mm. Kel-Tec PF-9 pistol. During the trial, defense attorneys claimed that Zimmerman shot the South Florida teen in self-defense.

The jury's not-guilty verdict sparked nationwide protests and criticism of Florida's stand-your ground law and allegations of racial profiling.

After the verdict, Zimmerman went into hiding and has only seen in public two other times; once when he purportedly helped rescue a family trapped in an overturned SUV near Sanford, Fla., on July 17 and two weeks later when he was stopped by police in Texas for speeding.
