The posh residents of "Downton Abbey" will not be returning to American TV screens until January 2014. Although the show's fourth season doesn't air until next year, "Downton" actors have spilled some details to give viewers a taste of what the fourth season will have in store.
E! News spoke with Downton actresses Michelle Dockery, Joanne Frogatt, Sophie McShera and Phyllis Logan about the upcoming season.
Season three's devastating finale ended with Matthew Crawley's (Dan Stevens) tragic death in an auto accident. Lady Mary will still be mourning Matthew's death when next season commences, but she will soon be welcoming the company of two new potential suitors. Yet, Dockery said that the suitors are taking a chance courting the "cursed" heiress.
"There are a few potential suitors, there's two main ones," Dockery said. "The new boys coming into the show, they're brave because I'm cursed. Mary is cursed isn't she? Because they all die."
Dockery also pointed out that all of the rumors swirling about a potential romance between Mary and Tom Branson (Allen Leech), her late sister Sybil's (Jessica Brown Findlay) husband, are not true. "All this speculation about Branson and Mary is just so inappropriate, he's my brother-in-law!" Dockery exclaimed.
Froggatt, who plays Anna Bates, shared that fans could possibly be meeting some royal characters at the end of the upcoming season. "We have what will be in the season finale for the U.S., we have characters that are based on the real royal family back in the time, so that's quite interesting, that's quite fun," Froggat said.
Dockery also thinks that there could be some truth to the possibility that the real-life royal family named their baby George after Mary's baby George. "I saw the front covers of the papers and I just couldn't believe it. We know that Pippa Middleton and James Middleton were fans," Dockery said.
Froggatt added that it would be a delight to have a member of the real royal family guest star on the series. "It would either be William, Harry or Kate." Or, she suggests, that the new royal baby could play a part. "George could play George! This is genius."
The BBC drama returns on Sunday, Jan. 5 on PBS.
