On Tuesday, comedic actor Lucas Cruikshank released a YouTube video publically declaring for the first time that he is gay.
The viral video star, who played the ultra-hyper "Fred" character in a Nickelodeon movie and several shows, made the announcement during a short clip with his friend Jennifer Veal who starred in the Disney Channel show "Jessie."
During the video, Lucas says his closest friends and family members have known about his sexuality for years, and that he never felt the need to make an announcement to the world.
"My family and friends have known for, like, three years," he says in the video. "I just haven't felt the need to announce it on the Internet."
At one point in the video, Lucas asks Jennifer, "When you first met me, did you know I was gay?" To which she quickly responds with a definitive "yeah" without a drop of hesitation.
"How come you didn't have to make a video saying you're straight?," Cruikshank also asks Veal.
The 19-year-old Nickelodeon star shot to superstardom by creating several YouTube videos featuring his annoying "Fred" character who had a crush on a girl named Judy, although the two never hooked up.
In addition to his popularity on YouTube, Lucas also starred on the short-lived Nickelodeon sitcom Marvin Martian from 2012 to 2013. He reportedly left Nickelodeon in June 2013, according to Hollywood Life.
