Harvey Weinsten has been prepping his Oscar campaign for the last few months. Among the films he has been promoting are "Lawless," "The Master," "Silver Linings Playbook," "The Sapphires" and "Django Unchained." His latest promotion is "Killing Them Softly," a film starring Brad Pitt and directed by Andrew Dominick.
The gangster film is based on George V. Higgins' 1974 crime novel "Cogan's Trade" but has been updated for modern times. The gritty drama which includes an all-star cast of James Gondolfini, Ray Liotta, and Richard Jenkins also includes a fair share of political undertones exemplified best by the inclusion of President Barack Obama's Democratic Convention speech.
The film is slated for an October 19 release date. Watch the Trailer Below.
