Actress and entrepeneur Eva Longoria will appear on an episode of NBC's comedy series "Welcome To The Family" along with her former "Desperate Housewives" co-star and onscreen husband, Ricardo A Chavira, Deadline reported.
The publication reported that Chavira called the Mexican-American actress to invite her to come to the show and she accepted. According to the Huffington Post, the 38-year-old is "very excited to be working with him again."
"Welcome To The Family," produced by Sony, focuses on a Latino and Caucasian family that is forced to stay together by the unexpected pregnancy of their teen kids, according to Deadline.
Longoria will play Ms. Nuñez, the English teacher of Demetrio (Fabrizio Guido). She and the boy's father Miguel (played by Chavira) had a relationship before he was married to Lisette (Justina Machado). Her appearance on the show will revive their old on-screen love.
It appears that 2013 will be a very exciting year for Longoria. It was announced by Telemundo that the actress will be honored at the 2013 edition of the "Premios Tu Mundo" (Your World Awards). Longoria will receive the NCLR's "ALMA de Tu Mundo" award during the awards ceremony.
The award is presented by Telemundo and the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) to recognize Longoria's use of her fame and talent to help the Latino community and to create awareness on various philanthropic causes, People en Español reported.
According to TVbytheNumbers, the award will be handed out for the very first time during this year's ceremony, to acknowledge Longoria's work to help ensure a better future for Hispanic families through education, voting and civic engagement.
The ALMA awards, which will broadcast live on Friday, September 27 at 10 p.m on MSNBC TV, is the only awards show presented in English to honor Latinos in music, film and television. It was created by the National Council of La Raza to unite entertainment with social causes.
It was also reported that "Devious Maids," the Lifetime series that Longoria produces, has been renewed for a second season. The show, which was created for ABC by Marc Cherry, will be back in 2014 with 13 new episodes.
The series has become the fastest growing drama in Lifetime's history, becoming the number one choice of female cable viewers on Sundays at 10 p.m, after premiering on June 23. "Devious Maids" has an 18 percent Hispanic audience, that almost doubles the prime time numbers of the channel.
