Mexican-American Raquel Pomplun Named Playmate of The Year [Video]

When Raquel Pomplun first decided to pose for Playboy all she had in mind was to make enough money from the photoshoot so she could complete her studies in Biochemistry. A few months later she never would have imagined she would be named Playmate of the Year, but that she would also be acting alongside Robert De Niro, Michael Douglas, Kevin Kline and Morgan Freeman in a movie.

Pomplun was born in San Diego, California and she was raised in Tijuana by a Mexican mother and an American father. Soon after posing for Playboy, she landed a small role in a film called "Last Vegas," which will be released in November in the United States.

"It's a film in which all the characters travel to Las Vegas and along with other playmates we played a bunch of girls who had just won a bikini contest. We sat there waiting among the rest of the actors. I had to do a scene with Kevin Kline and then I had to dance very sexy for Michael Douglas," the 25 year old Playmate told media outlets at a press conference.

Last year, Pomplun posed with Bruno Mars for the cover of a men's magazine, and was struck and delighted by the sense of humor of the singer.

"He's a lovely man, very cute, very respectful but mostly, very humble. During the photo session he joked with me a lot. He asked me jokingly when I would get a divorce so he could take me with him, but no, I''ve been happily married for three and a half years now," she added.

Pomplun who is now looking into further acting opportunities, never imagined that she would en up meeting Hugh Hefner and Cameron Diaz at the Playboy mansion and that she imagined life going very differently for her.

"When the issue with Bruno Mars came out, Playboy threw a super party, and Cameron Diaz was there, I was surprised by how tall she is in real life."

"She was looking at the magazine, and when she saw a picture in which I appear, I told her: that's me. She looked at me with a smile and said, Great, you're keeping everything in its place," Pomplun remembers.

The young bombshell says she couldn't be happier to have been chosen as Playmate Of The Year for 2013 and is proud to be on the cover or the Mexican issue's August number.

Pomplun says that she has tons of plans for the future and many offers have come her way but for the time being the only thing she is certain of is that she will go back to finish college as soon as possible.
