Although her outlandish ensembles and melodramatic performances are what typically score Lady Gaga tons of media buzz, the Grammy Award-winning superstar is raising eyebrows in a new video in which she strips down to her birthday suit.
The "Born This Way" singer is completely nude in a video purposed to raise funds for the Marina Abramovic Institute.
In the video, the 27-year-old singer is on a "three-day retreat in upstate New York" with performance artist Marina Abramovic. She can be seen in a variety of settings while making a continuous groaning sound as she practices the "Abramovic method." According to the institute, the practice is designed to "heighten the participants' awareness of their physical and mental experience in the present moment."
At one point the "Poker Face" star bends down to grab hold of a tree branch in a forest, before wrapping her arms around a large crystal on a piece of laminate flooring.
Serbian artist Marina is trying to raise $600,000 through donation service Kickstarter to fund her artworks. As of Friday afternoon, she has raised over $260,000.
Marina has also generously promised everyone who donates will get a "personal hug". The money pledged will be used to help get the Institute off the ground.
According to MAI's website, the institute "will be an experimental space to conduct research and host workshops, public lectures, and residencies, and will serve as a venue through which the public may experience and interact with works of long durational performance."
