'Orphan Black' Season 2 Spoilers: More Tatiana Clones On the Way?

The ethical implications and moral of human cloning has long been scrutinized for its impact on the issue of personal identity. The new series "Orphan Black" is the first television show of its kind to address the topic. It's a difficult issue to tackle, but the series uses intriguing characters and a phenomenal writing to truly capture all the beauty and doom attached that comes with it. Now as "Orphan Black" gears up for its second season, more details from the early stages of production give fans an eerie look at what's to come.

As expected, the show will be adding yet another clone to Tatiana Maslany's group of doppelgangers, TVLine reports. But before it appears on camera, the clone must succumb to rigorous examination.

"We treat our [clones] very seriously and don't want to introduce a lot of redshirts," executive producer Graeme Manson informs fans. "We don't want throwaway clones. If we're going to introduce a new clone, we're going to work very hard on it with Tatiana."

Although Manson failed to officially confirm the arrival of her eighth clone, he leaves optimistic fans with hope when saying, "I think it's safe to say we would love to meet a new clone in season 2."

For those unfamiliar with the new series, "Orphan Black" follows outsider, orphan and street-wise chameleon Sarah. After witnessing a woman's suicide, Sarah assumes the strangers identity - who happens to look just like her. Expecting to solve all her problems by cleaning out the dead woman's savings, Sarah is instead thrust headlong into a kaleidoscopic mystery as she realizes the dizzying truth - she and the dead woman are clones. As Sarah searches for answers, she discovers the chilling fact that there are more people like her out there - genetically identical individuals who were planted in unsuspecting birth parents and nurtured in completely different circumstances. With no idea who created the clones, she'll need to discover the reason in a hurry as an assassin is killing them one by one.

"Orphan Black" will return to BBC America for its second season in April, 2014.
