Fans of Fox’s hit murder-solving drama “Bones” are eagerly waiting for its return this fall. The show, which is entering its ninth season next month, has had fans curious over the fate of Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth’s (David Boreanaz) relationship.
The show left off with Booth breaking up their brief engagement after serial killer Pelant (Andrew Leeds) threatened to kill five random people if they went through with the wedding. However, creator Hart Hanson has already promised fans that the much awaited wedding will occur in the ninth season and the team at the Jeffersonian/FBI will rid themselves of their Pelant problem. But when will the couple hear wedding bells and how will it happen?
Hanson told TV Guide, “We’re moving fast this year. We’re not going to tease that out another entire season. I think people assume that it would be a season-ender, but we try not to live up to people’s assumptions.” The showrunner added that Brennan will seek her colleague’s help in figuring out her relationship with Booth, but ultimately decides to stay with him.
“These are two people that love each other,” Hanson said. “At the end of the first episode, it’s less divisive. There’s hope.”
While Brennan may not take one of her colleague’s advice on her relationship, she and Booth will get advice from outside of work. As previously reported, Booth will reconnect with his former Army confessor Aldo, who now runs a bar. Deschanel spoke about her character’s encounter with Aldo to TVLine.
“I go to this bar looking for Booth, wondering why he’s been going to this place,” the actress said. “There, I encounter this man and he figures out that I’m ‘Booth’s girl,’ as he calls me, and he kind of counsels me--in a way Brennan might even be open to hearing from and ex-priest! It’s an interesting conversation that Brennan finds amusing.”
The couple will also be getting some much needed advice and time away when they head undercover as Tony and Roxy for a couples retreat. While little is known about what will happen during the episode, Soap Opera Digest confirmed the two will be crossing paths with guest star Greg Rikaart (“The Young and the Restless”).
Rikaart shared, “I’m having a blast working on ‘Bones.’ Such a welcoming, talented group of people here and this story is amazing. It’s a fun character too, who is so different from [‘The Young and the Restless’] Kevin.”
“Bones” season 9 premieres on Monday, September 16 at 8 p.m. on Fox. On November 8, the show switches to its new Friday night timeslot.
