Tony Goldwyn admitted that he loved working on the new film "Divergent."
During an interview with Hollywood Crush, Goldwyn said that he and the rest of the cast really bonded. The actor plays protagonist Tris Prior's (Shailene Woodley) father. "We had a wonderful scene that I participated in which was the family together the night before the choosing ceremony," said Goldwyn.
"It was very good casting of the four of us, Shailene and Ashley [Judd] and Ansel [Elgort], the family, the Priors. We just had this great chemistry together and really felt like a family [living in] the world that Neil [Burger, director] created visually of the Abnegation. We had these two really wonderful days shooting these two scenes, and I'm really excited to see how those turn out, " he added.
The actor also said that he read the book and praised Veronica Roth for her work. He explained: "The book is so wonderful, but being a movie, Neil brought incredible dimension to the different worlds and the factions. It's really rich and complicated. We have such a great cast... It was a really great experience."
When asked if he would return for the sequel, the actor said, "I doubt it." Which makes sense; Goldwyn's character dies in the first film. He continued, "Veronica Roth said, flatteringly, one of her biggest regrets is that she didn't write Andrew into the other books, that she killed Andrew off, so I don't think there's much hope for a resurrection of the ghost of Andrew. But we'll see."
"Divergent" tells the story of a teenager, Tris, who seeks to break free from her homogeneous society that divides people based on human traits. She leaves her faction and joins a rival group, where she falls for an older man. The film also stars Kate Winslet, Miles Teller, Jai Courtney, Maggie Q, Ashley Judd, and Ray Stevenson.
Summit Entertainment will release the film on March 21.
