The judge who presided over the 2011 Casey Anthony case is teaming up with a certain superstar Hollywood agent in hopes of landing his own television show.
Judge Belvin Perry Jr., who became famous for his unique courtroom style throughout the highly publicized Casey Anthony trial, is in talks to become the next male "Judge Judy," according to media reports.
According to ABC News, after the Anthony trial ended, Perry received a "stack of messages from Hollywood" requesting meetings about the possibility of hosting his own show.
"Since the end of the trial, a number of people have approached me about doing this," Perry told reporters. "It's an option that's out there and I would be foolish not to look at it and see whether or not it's a viable option."
After going through his Hollywood offers and weighing the opportunities, Perry chose to go with producer Jim Lichtenstein.
Lichtenstein is represented by top William Morris agent Mark Itkin, who has a number of hit shows on his resume, including "The Real World," "Project Runway," and Gordon Ramsay's "Hell's Kitchen," according to a report from the Daily Mail.
Will Perry be Itkin's next success story?
"The judge is a character," Itkin said of Perry. "Judge Joe Brown, Judge Alex, Judge Mathis are all characters. They all have a sense of humor."
Lichtenstein agreed, saying "[Perry] looks like a character. He sounds like a character. He has that southern drawl to him."
While Lichtenstein has made it clear that no deal has been finalized yet, conversations and meetings about the project are ongoing. The producer says he feels good about Perry's chances in the world of television.
Various media reports say that Perry's show, if it does indeed come together, could hit the air by as early as next year.
