Former RBD singer and actress Maite Perroni is reprising her singing career and has unveiled the cover of solo debut album "Eclipse de Luna" (Lunar Eclipse). Its first single, bachata-flavored song "Tu y Yo" (You and Me) with a tropical vibe and acoustic rhythms was launched in mid-June to chart success.
On Wednesday (August 7), Perroni unveiled the cover art of her first album, where the brunette singer can be seen up against the wall and facing the camera "looking mighty sexy", Latin Times reported.
"With RBD I lived wonderful and amazing things and it will always be a very important part on my career. But now I start taking a different way. It´s an interesting process, which makes feel me very excited, but at the same time it makes me feel a little scared because it makes me realize that I have yet a lot of things to learn. Now I have to start over from a genuine place and reconnect myself to the public," said Perroni , according the Nuevo Herald.
"Tu y Yo" music video has reached more than a million views since it premiered on YouTube on July 16. The singer released the song in her Google+ page to thousands of followers from various countries like Greece, Slovenia, Poland, and Latin America such as Chile, Venezuela, Brazil and Colombia.
The 30-year-old singer seems to be moving on from her previous sound to show her growth as an artist, since the three-and-a-half minute song is very different from her bubblegum roots. It was recorded in New York, where she also filmed the video for the song.
Her new album was recorded under the direction of Chilean producer Koko Stambuk, who said the song "is a theme that sets the tone for what will be the line of the record. It has character and strength and many women will feel identified with its lyrics, because sometimes you need to end a relationship and say 'it's over' but you don't know how to".
Recently, Perroni made her film debut, giving voice to a character in the animated movie "Selección Canina" (Canine Team".
The Mexican Pop princess will give her first concert for the U.S. leg of her tour on August 31 at the People en Español Festival 2013, where fans will listen to the songs of her new album live for the very first time.
"Eclipse De Luna" is currently available for pre-sale on iTunes and is expected to be released on August 27 in both Mexico and the United States.
