So what will it be? Fans have known for several weeks now that Cote de Pablo will be leaving NCIS at the onset of season 11, but the looming question still lingers. How will she say goodbye? Will she gracefully part ways with the agency and walk into a blinding sunset as her silhouette fades with the rolling credits? Or we she take a bullet to the brain, making her departure short and sweet for her tormented fans? Well lucky for them, executive Gary Glasberg has the answer.
Pablo's Ziva will not be leaving the show without a pulse. Phew. We can all rest easy.
"It's not what this character deserves," Glasberg tells TVLine. "Also, [we killed off] Sasha Alexander's Kate character [back in season 2] and I like the idea of doing this one a little different and respecting who [Ziva] is."
The first two episodes of will be more than a mournful and reminiscent goodbye. It will continue to show more of who Ziva is, allowing fans to get to know her character even better upon until her point of departure. Glasberg hints that viewers will get a rare peek at "what makes Ziva tick" in the two part farewell, adding, "In the second episode we learn why she's going to make the decision she's going to make... We put a lot into that storyline, so I hope it works for people."
Fans will, in fact, get a little taste of everything. Even love. "We're going to deliver everything the Tiva fans would want," Glasberg says. "There's tremendous romance and tremendous heart and pathos, and I hope fans enjoy it. We're going to do our best."
"NCIS" will return to CBS for Ziva's farewell September 24.
