The trailer to Spioke Jonze's new film "Her" premiered on Wednesday.
Starring Joaquin Phoenix, Scarlet Johansson and Amy Adams, the film tells the story of a lonely writer who develops an unlikely relationship with his newly-purchased operating system that's designed to meet his every need.
The movie is being considered an early Oscar contender given its star power and the clever script. Additionally, Jonze has been nominated for Best Director previously for his work on "Being John Malkovich," leading Oscar prognosticators to place him at the top of their lists.
The film is Jonze's first production since 2009's "Where the Wild Things Are." The director has also helmed another Oscar-winner in 2002 with "Adaptation," starring Meryl Streep, Nicholas Cage, and Chris Cooper, who took home the award for Best Supporting Actor.
Phoenix was last seen in "The Master" for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. He was also seen in "Gladiator," "Walk the Line," and "Signs." He is next slated to appear in "The Immigrant" and "Inherent Vice."
Adams recently appeared as Lois Lane in "Man of Steel" and "The Master." She is best known for her work on "Enchanted," "The Muppets," "The Fighter" and "Julie and Julia." She will next be in seen in "American Hustle."
Johansson replaced Samantha Morton in "Her." The actress' voice appears in the film, and according to Vulture, the switch was made when Jonze realized during the editing process that "what the character/movie needed was different from what Samantha and I had created together." Johansson will next appear in "Don Jon" with Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
"Her" also stars Rooney Mara and Olvia Wilde. Warner Bros. is slated to release the film Nov. 20 in limited release.
