Manchester United manager David Moyes remains adamant that Wayne Rooney will stay with Manchester United this upcoming season.
The manager spoke to the media following his club's 1-1 preseason draw with Swedish team AIK and confirmed he is confident the team will still have Rooney for the upcoming season.
"I've not asked him," Moyes said about Rooney's interest in moving to another club. "You don't need to convince anybody to play for Manchester United."
He also spoke about his star player's health. Rooney did not travel with the club to Sweden as a result of a shoulder injury.
"I don't think he [Rooney] will be fit for Friday [at the Old Trafford]," Moyes said. "There is still a chance, but I don't think he will be. It is not a serious injury, but the problem we've got with the Wembley game on Sunday is that he has not played so we need to take that into consideration.
"Is his fitness more of a concern than his future? Yes. We're trying to get Wayne into a condition where he is ready to play."
Chelsea recently offered 30 million pounds for the striker but was promptly rejected by Manchester United.
Meanwhile, Moyes has been on the lookout for his own reinforcements. He was particularly keen on bringing Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas to England but has been rejected three times by the Catalonian club. However, he is adamant in improving his club before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
"There will be reinforcements - they will come and we will get them," he said. "I do think we will sign some players before the window shuts."
