It's unofficially official. Miley Cyrus's new album is the most anticipated album of the year. The singer is on a warpath to shed her Hannah Montana skin and introduce the world to her new identity. She wants to be her own entity, not one designed and manipulated by Disney. There's admiration and respect for what she's doing, however, not everyone agrees with her decisions. They're too attached to Hannah Montana. They're not ready for Miley Cyrus. The ongoing struggle between the two opposing identities has generated a new genre of Miley obsession that feeds her self perception. Like her recent smash hit suggests, she can't stop, and like it or not, her recent antics will directly feed the success of her upcoming album, which she just accordingly named Bangerz. Yes, with a "z."
"If you don't know why my record is called BANGERZ you'll know as soon as you hear it. Nothin but #BANGERZ," Cyrus posted on Twitter. That's a bold statement. "We Can't Stop" certainly proved to be a "banger," however, an entire album of "bangers" is a lot to promise. She may need some help, which could come from the experience of a "banger veteran."
A recently leaked track, which has since been removed, could potentially feature Britney Spears, although the rumors have yet to be confirmed. The song's hard driving rhythm, fist pumping drops and cat calls to a party nation are clear indicators of another Miley banger, and with a name like Spears attached, it's unstoppable.
Her new image is catapulting her career, and now other entities are tagging along for the ride. In a sort of cross promotion, MTV took to Cyrus to promote the upcoming Video Music Awards on August 25. In the promo, New Yorkers casually await the Q train when all of a sudden a group of croonies similar to those featured in Cyrus's "We Can't Stop" video walk out of the tunnels. Cyrus then slides makes her way down from a manhole ladder, dressed in scant clothing and a menacing grimace.
But MTV won't stop there. The network is making a Miley Cyrus documentary. It's embracing the new Cyrus brand, snatching her away from poor Disney. The documentary, which is set to premiere in the fall, is produced by the same team that made documentaries on Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga and Drake.
Hannah Montana is dead. It's all Miley from here on out.
