Matthew Goode has been shortlisted as one of the potential Batman's for the upcoming "Batman vs. Superman."
According to various sources the actor is among Warner Bros.' top choices for the role of Bruce Wayne. The Hollywood Reporter reported that the studio was currently looking for an actor in his late 30s or 40s who can portray an established rugged figure. Goode is 35 years old and has an advantage over many of the prospective candidates because he has worked with director Zack Snyder before.
Goode worked on the superhero film "Watchman" with Snyder, playing the villainous role of Ozymandias. Goode has not been present in studio films since "Watchman" and "Leap Year." However, the actor has been active in independent films such as "Burning Man," "The Lookout," and "Cementery Junction." He has also worked on "A Single Man," "Match Point," and most recently, "Stoker."
While he is pinned as a front-runner for the film, it seems unlikely he will take the role, at least judging by his filmography and future projects. He is currently committed to four films. He is currently filming a TV mini-series, "Death Comes to Pemberley," and a movie entitled "Magik" with Benedict Cumberbatch and Jim Broadbent. He will also be in "The Imitation Game" with Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley, and "Destroyer" with Paul Bettany. If Goode is to join "Batman Vs. Superman," he will have to finish those four projects before 2014.
"Batman vs. Superman" is set to star Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane. David Goyer will write the script with Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder producing. Warner Bros. will release the movie in 2015.
