The trailer has been released for J.C Chandor's sophomore film, "All is Lost."

Starring Robert Redford, the film tells the story of a resourceful sailor who finds himself staring his mortality in the face after a collision with a shipping container at sea.

The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival where Robert Redford obtained the best reviews of his career and where early Oscar buzz began. Andrew Pulver of the Guardian said, "Redford delivers a tour de force performance: holding the screen effortlessly with no acting support whatsoever."

Mary F. Pols of Time magazine said, "A signal film achievement and the capstone to a great star's career. This is Ultimate Redford."

Shaun Munro of Film School Rejects wrote, "Redford's fiercely committed and quite brilliant performance is the reason to see this."

Pundits have already put Redford at the top of the list as a front-runner to get nominated for Best Actor, and with buzz increasing throughout the next few months, Redford could even land his first Oscar in the acting category.

Chandor directed his first feature, "Margin Call," in 2011. The film received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Sreenplay and went on to become a box office success in movie theaters and through On Demand.

Reford recently directed "The Company You Keep," which starred Shia Labeouf, Julie Christie, Terrence Howard, Sam Elliot, Brendan Gleeson, Anna Kendrick, Brit Marling and Chris Cooper. He will next be seen in "Captain America: Winter's Soldier."

Roadside Attractions will release "All is Lost" on Oct. 18.
