Denzel Washington has rejected an opportunity to be in the upcoming "Fast & Furious 7."

According to Deadline, "The studio is now looking for another big star to join the next film in a small role and then be a big part of the film that follows. Denzel Washington just turned down that opportunity, but they'll undoubtedly get somebody important by the time The Conjuring helmer James Wan starts shooting the seventh film."

The movie is slated for July 2014 release and will reunite Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez. Jason Staham will also join the franchise after showing up in the post-credits scene of "Fast & Furious 6."

"Jason Statham, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, when you see these guys in a room you know they belong together [...] You can see in their eyes that they have gone through a lot [...] I applaud Universal for getting [Statham] on-board!" said series veteran Rodriguez.

Washington's latest film "2 Guns" hit theaters on Friday, Aug. 2. As of the morning of Aug. 2, the film currently has a 59 percent approval rating on aggregate side Rotten Tomatoes. The critical consensus says, "Formulaic and often jarringly violent, 2 Guns rests its old-school appeal on the interplay between its charismatic, well-matched stars," according to Rotten Tomatoes.

Latinos Post's review of the film praised Washington and co-star Mark Wahlberg, but concluded that "[2 Guns] is a trademark Hollywood testosterone-driven film that often throws logic by the wayside in favor of explosions, violence, and some touches of humor. Those looking for a mindless two hours will surely be satisfied as scenes between Washington and Wahlberg make the price of admission feel acceptable; the bank robbery is also ingeniously executed. Those looking for a top-end thriller will be disappointed by the sloppy scripting of the film's second half."
