Neymar and Lionel Messi could team up for the first time on Friday when Barcelona takes on Santos.
Neymar made his Barcelona debut on Tuesday, but did not get a chance to play alongside his Argentinean teammate. The two are likely to finally get that chance on Friday.
The match will also feature the first time that Neymar takes on his former club. The 21-year-old played 103 matches for the club and scored 54 times from 2009-13.
"I'll be playing against my former teammates for whom I have a lot of love, but I'll defend Barca with all my pride," Neymar said about facing his former team, according to ESPN. "I play all my matches with the same desire and for me, a friendly like the one tomorrow is the same as a Champions League final."
"I'm used to the very physical style of play," Neymar added.
Many have speculated whether the Brazilian star will be able to gel with the four-time Ballon d'Or winner. However, Neymar and the Barcelona executives have been very positive about the chemistry that could form between the two stars.
"I feel very comfortable with him," Neymar said about Messi. "He's an idol of mine and I'm so happy to be able to be alongside him. He's a fantastic player and a great person and I just want to help him to continue making the Barca fans happy."
"Neymar is destined to make the difference," Xavi said. "He's got lightning pace and scores goals. Having Leo, Neymar and all the other players is sure to help us each improve on an individual level."
He added: "Great players bring out the best in each other. I'm certain Neymar will be better alongside Leo and Leo will be better alongside Neymar. We'll try to help him adapt, make him happy and get the best out of him to play like he has done for Brazil."
Prediction: Barcelona takes down Santos 2-0.
