'Breaking Bad' Will Live on Post Finale as Bryan Cranston Seeks Directing Career and Show Gets Spanish Reboot

Doomsday is drawing near. "Breaking Bad" is coming to an end. Over the course of five years, we've watched as an innocent and timid chemistry teacher slowly spiraled down into the murky depths of the crystal meth drug trade. The gripping thrill ride shows the seductive side of the criminal mind as it wrangles Walter White in and doesn't let go. It was over from the first cook. Walter couldn't get enough. He let go of everything he held dear including his family, and for what? At the onset of the return of the fifth and final season, Walter is in the darkest place imaginable. He's cut all his ties. He now has to live with his sins and cope with the megalomanic murderer that he's become. But what are Walt's plans after "Breaking Bad" comes to a close and he's no longer in the meth limelight? Well in a recent interview, Walt himself, or Bryan Cranston rather, shares his future with his adoring fans.

"I hope to, in the latter part of next year, I hope to be directing a screenplay that I wrote," Cranston told BuzzFeed on Wednesday. "It's a murder mystery... It's a very dark subject, very 'Breaking Bad' in tone, with some sick humor connected to it."

This won't be the first time Cranston has dipped his toes in directing. In 1999, he wrote, directed and starred in the movie "Last Chance." Two years ago, the film buff hinted at writing and directing an adaptation of David Wiltse's book "Home Again." Based on the book's premise, it's very possible that it's the same project Cranston was referring to in the interview.

"It's possible, but I'm not thinking in those terms yet," he said. "I'll have to take a real honest look at it, and if one of the roles is right for me, then I would plug myself in. If not, then I won't."

But Cranston isn't the only one with a bright future. Aside from the other brilliant actors, the show itself will also find new legs. Shooting for "Metastasis," the Spanish-language version of "Breaking Bad," began this week in Bogota. "We have spent an extraordinary amount of time developing a compelling, rich story with incredible production quality," said Sony Latin America production executive Angelica Guerra.

Now if Cranston has a cameo in "Metastasis," that would be special.
