Spanish forward Roberto Soldado is headed to Tottenham.
Numerous reports indicate that the Spanish striker's former club Valencia and the English club agreed to terms on Thursday that placed his price at 30 million euros.
ESPN reports that Tottenham will make an initial payment of 12 million euros and three subsequent offerings of 6 million euros.
Tottenham has not issued an official statement but Valencia did post an announcement on its official website.
"Valencia Club de Fútbol has reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, pending the corresponding medical examination, for the transfer of Roberto Soldado for the amount equivalent to that of his release clause," said the statement. "The Club wishes Roberto the best of luck in this new professional phase and we also wish to point out the professionalism and great performance of the footballer in the matches where he has worn the Valencia Club de Fútbol shirt.
"Lastly, Valencia CF wishes to thank the fans for the support received and at the same time offers a message of confidence in the work put forward by the coaches and players that wish to bring the Club forward and fulfill the objective of continuously maintaining Valencia Club de Fútbol as a great team. The Council and the professionals in the Technical Area will make the corresponding arrangements, in accordance with the economic reality, to maintain and increase the potential of the squad in sync with the level of demand of our great history and of our great supporters."
Soldado scored 82 times in 141 appearances during his time with the Spanish club; he finished the 2012-13 season with 24 goals.
Tottenham is in the midst of a major transfer saga featuring Gareth Bale. The Welsh star has told the club that he wants to move to Real Madrid, but the club has been requesting 100 million euros and a player to get the deal done. Recent reports indicate that Alvaro Morata is the player of choice for Tottenham.
