Katy Perry New Album 2013: Is the Singer Collaborating with Boyfriend John Mayer?

Katy Perry made waves in Los Angeles on Tuesday with the unveiling of a behemoth of an ad for her new album: a giant, gold-plated semi-truck. The giant truck advertised the name of new album, "Prism", and the debut date, which is set for October 22. The roving ad is already blowing up the Twittersphere, with fans taking photos of "Prism-semi" truck sightings and retweeting them to their friends.

Fans were immediately curious about the new album's content, and were especially curious about a potential collaboration with her on-again, off-again boyfriend, singer/songwriter John Mayer. The 28-year-old songstress is no stranger to attention about her love life, evidenced by her publicly rocky marriage and divorce with flamboyant British comedian and actor Russell Brand. Perry reportedly broke-up with Mayer in March, but they have recently reconciled. Now that they are back together for the moment, is a musical collaboration in the works?

According to CBS News, Extra asked Perry at the premiere of "Smurfs 2," (she reprised her role as the voice of Smurfette,) if they will be collaborating for her follow-up album to 2010's "Teenage Dream". "We're doing a lot of collaborating," Perry said with a flirtatious wink.

Alas, her facetious innuendo was only an insinuation of the other kind of collaborating (hint: not the musical kind). According to USA Today, when E! News repeated the question about collaborating with Mayer to Perry, she said, "He's not, actually, but thank you for asking." Although Perry has quashed rumors of a couple's duo, fans are still engrossed by her relationship to the 35-year-old songwriter.

Perry and Mayer starting dating last year. Although they are now back together after their break-up in March, Perry spoke with Elle U.K. about how upsetting it was to momentarily end the relationship. "He pulled away. That was a big hello for me," Perry said. I realized I could lose the person I loved and I had to deal with some things, issues I think a lot of women have. You can be strong in one aspect of your life but submissive in another...The men I have gone for are challenging, yes, but they're also wildly intelligent and poetic. I'm not interested in taming anyone. I'm pretty wild myself."
