Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have confirmed that they will not work on the upcoming "Star Wars Episode VII."
Pegg had been linked with the film thanks to his close relationship with the film's director J.J. Abrams.
''I don't want to be in "Star Wars," I think it would spoil it,'' Pegg said in an interview with The Age. "When I saw "Star Wars" when I was a kid, I saw a bunch of people I'd never seen before with some lofty, very respectable older actors in senior roles... I would hope J.J. doesn't stunt-cast the film. It would be great to get some new peeps in it, it would be amazing.''
''I'd like to sit back as a punter and see what's going to come from J.J.'s mind," Frost said about his involvement in the franchise.
Pegg has been vocal about the upcoming movie and even hinted at the possibility of iconic characters and moments from the original trilogy making appearances in "Episode VII."
"And I think if anyone can pull ['Star Wars'] out of the mire, it's J.J. He'll bring the fun back," he stated. "[Franchise creator George] Lucas seemed to misread what made the first ones great, and concentrate on things that people didn't really care about, or willfully ignore the things that people cared about. Whereas J.J. will embrace them all ... We're going to see the Millennium Falcon again. We're going to see those characters again. All the things that we loved about the first three, we will see again," he added.
"Star Wars Episode VII" is currently in pre-production with Abrams attached to direct. The film is set to start shooting in the early part of 2014 in the United Kingdom. Composer John Williams has already confirmed his involvement in the upcoming movies.
There has been no cast news to speak of, but Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, and Harrison Ford are all rumored to return to the series.
"Star Wars Episode VII" will be released in 2015 by Disney.
