Much like the zombies portrayed on the show, "The Walking Dead" slowly trudges its way towards its season 4 premiere. It's inching closer and closer. The date is there, unprepared for the zombie onslaught that will rip away at its flesh. Everyday is like a step, and with every step, fans get more and more anxious.
As the new season approaches, fans rely on subtle details to curb their zombie like hunger. Since production began earlier this summer, they've received a handful of cast interview and behind-the-scene clips that hint at what's to come. Now, as TV Guide reports, there will be plenty of changes as season 4 rolls out.
One of the show's 'biggest' characters, Tyreese will be showing his softer side. In the past he's put himself in harms way to help Rick and the gang, but this season will feature more of a "gentle giant" as he struggles to stay alive in the zombie engulfed apocalypse.
"You'll have an opportunity to witness this man wrestle with the rules of engagement around him and where he fits in that world and his own inner [demons]," said Chad Coleman, who plays Tyreese on the show. "To me, it feels like a firm belief in nonviolent conflict resolution, but how does that fit in a claustrophobic world? I believe you'll see him tested and no one goes unscathed."
The new season will take a different, much more character-driven approach. New showrunner Scott Gimple is more focused on the intense and complex relationships between the characters. He hopes to get as much as he can from the characters to further captivate fans.
"Coming into season four, we're definitely going to know a lot more about these people so it will be that much more gut-wrenching and worse when we lose these characters," said executive producer Robert Kirkman Kirkman during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "Season four probably has the most number of scenes that are adapted directly from the comic series or very close to what we did. A good deal of that is from Scott and the way he views that material and puts forth that extra effort to work it into the show in a way that it all works."
"The Walking Dead" will return to AMC October 13.
