While "NCIS" embarks on its eleventh season, its off child "NCIS: LA" is just picking up. As the show gears up for its fifth season, fans are eager to see if certain characters will resurface, if others will be introduced or get the ax. Every little detail counts. Any piece of information on the forthcoming season will help fans rest easy, at least for the moment.
According to TVLine, at some point during the upcoming fifth season, Eric Christian Olsen, who plays Detective Marty Deeks on the show, promises, "You're going to meet his mom and get into his past," which isn't pretty.
"We already know a little about the dysfunctional and catastrophic relationship with his father, but we're going to find out a lot more about what makes this guy tick and how it affects, obviously, the relationship with Kensi and his inability to make that work," Olsen adds.
Season 5 will pick up with Sam and Deeks still being tortured for information while the rest of the team searches for their missing comrades. Yet the agency's primary concern is finding Sidorov and the stolen nuclear weapons. By the time Sam and Deeks make it back to safe ground, they're certainly going to be dealing with heavy psychological issues in the wake of their experience.
So what better time to reintroduce Nate Getz, an operational psychologist in charge of taking care of the Office of Special Projects agents' psychological health and overall well-being. He's adept at analyzing agents before and after each mission. As previously reported, he'll be making his return to "NCIS: LA" early on in the season. He plays an integral part the department's integrity and performance, so it makes sense that he'll return in the beginning episodes.
"NCIS: LA" will return to CBS on Tuesday, September 24 at 9 p.m.
