David Luiz is not headed to Bayern Munich despite increasing rumors.
According to Fox Sports, Munich manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that the Brazilian defender will not be joining the reigning Champions league winners.
"He's not coming to Munich," he said. "We've got four or five central defenders. There is no truth to the speculation."
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has repeatedly insisted his top players are not for sale.
"The club is solid. The club is very well organized, the numbers are correct. We as a club want to follow the Financial Fair Play rules, but we are in a very stable situation," he said. "I like the squad, I like the profile. I like the fact we have a very young squad with three or four experienced players that are still in a fantastic moment of their career."
Luiz has also turned down speculation about a move to Barcelona. The Spanish side has been on the lookout for a top defender and was reportedly interested in Brazilian Thiago Silva. That attempt backfired and the club has reportedly been trying for Luiz.
"My objective is to be happy and this is possible playing always in a team that controls the ball," said Luiz. "Barcelona is the team that has developed the best football in the last few years. I know Barca were interested in my services in the past but now I do not have any news."
Luiz is coming off a terrific performance in the Confederations Cup with his biggest moment in the final against Spain. With the score 1-0 in Brazil's favor, Spain's Pedro fired a low shot at an empty net that was destined to tie the score. However, Luiz swept in and kicked the ball away at the final second to preserve the lead and help his nation to a 3-0 win in the final.
