Despite hesitation from Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid seems adamant about buying Gareth Bale this summer.
According to reports, club sporting director Zinedane Zidane insists the team will not give up on trying to buy the Welshman.
"We're not going to give up on Bale", Zidane told Le 10 Sport. "It's impossible to forget about a player of his quality...It's only normal that Tottenham want him to sign a new contract but we've made it clear that he's one of our main objectives."
Spanish daily AS reports that the English club is willing to negotiate for its top star, but wants €98 million, plus full-back Fabio Coentrao in return. ESPN reports that the defender is valued at around €20 million, meaning Madrid's total payment for Bale would amount to €120 million.
The Spanish giants have been in hot pursuit for the midfielder but have been met with resistance from the North London club. During the last few days, Tottenham representatives have insisted Bale isn't headed anywhere.
"On Gareth, I want to repeat what I was telling you last season and what I was telling you from the beginning of pre-season so I cannot extend myself," Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas said from Hong Kong last week. "He's a player that we are willing to continue to have, he's a Tottenham player, he's one of the most fantastic players in the world at the moment and we are counting on him for the future...He is not for sale at any price, and there has been no offer from anyone."
However, the player was seemingly "distraught" over the rejection of a €100 million offer from Madrid and his advisors apparently told Tottenham that he wanted to leave the club.
