On Monday, July 29, William Levy's new telenovela "la Tempestad" premieres on Univision.
Following the finale to the successful series "Amores Verdaderos," starring Ericka Buenfil and Eduardo Yanez, "La Tempestad" will take over the 9 p.m. prime-time hour.
The soap opera, produced by Salvador Mejia, is a story filled with intrigue, adventure, and romance that unfolds in the Mexican Gulf coast. Levy plays the tough sea captain Damián Fabré, owner of the fishing ship La Tempestad. When Marina Reverte (Ximena Navarrete) arrives in town to head up the successful fishery he works for, a relationship develops between them as well as many emotional conflicts that become even more complicated thanks to the manipulations of various evil characters bent on keeping them apart. The series promises to have a lot excitement, action and most importantly romance.
"La Tempestad" marks the return of Levy to the telenovela. The actor was previously seen in successful series such as "Sortilegio," "Triunfo del Amor," "Cuidado Con El Angel" and "Pasion." He previously appeared on "Dancing with the Stars," and will soon in appear in Tyler Perry's "Single Moms Club," and "Addicted."
Co-star Navarrete is making her acting debut. Navarette first gained notoriety after being crowned Miss Universe in 2010 and then went on to become the face of L'Oreal Paris and Old Navy.
"La Tempestad" also marks the Mexican debut for Spanish actor Ivan Sanchez, who was seen in "Imperium," "Hispania, La Leyenda," and "La Reina del Sur."
The new series is said to be the most expensive production ever produced for Televisa. Christina Aguilera and Alejandro Fernandez sang the theme song, "Hoy Tengo Ganas de Ti," and premiered their music video on YouTube. The series also stars Laura Carmine, Jessica Coch, Arturo Peniche, Marianna Seoane, Robert Blandon, Diana Bracho, Cesar Evora, Alfonso Herrera, Latin Lover and Luis Manuel Avila. "La Tempestad" is based on the Colombian telenovela "La Tormenta."
