Images obtained from security cameras placed in Aaron Hernandez' home show the former player walking around with a firearm, just hours before and minutes after his friend, Odin Lloyd, was found dead. According to the prosecution, the images were taken from the security system that the former player for the New England Patriots had installed in his home. The pictures were made public on Thursday in Attleboro District Court, as well as more than 100 documents relating to the case.
Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Odin Lloyd, a 27 year old semi-professional player, whose body was found on June 17 on the grounds of a vacant lot in an industrial center near Hernandez's home. Lloyd's body was found with five gunshot wounds and according to prosecution he was murdered "execution style."
According to an affidavit, the images show Hernandez in his basement holding a gun shortly after Lloyd was killed. The surveillance video was cut short purposely only a few minutes later. Other photographs show what authorities say is Hernandez in his room before Lloyd was killed, also holding what they believe is a weapon.
Authorities have said that Lloyd was killed with a .45 caliber gun, which has not been recovered. Hernandez appeared yesterday in court and will face a preliminary hearing on August 22. The former player will remain in jail without bail because of the severity of the accusations against him.
Ernest Wallace, who is also implicated in Lloyd's murder, was scheduled to appear in front of a judge on Friday. According to prosecution, Wallace and another man by the name of Carlos Ortiz were with Hernandez and Lloyd the night the latter was killed.
This week, the University of Florida, where Hernandez graduated from and was a star player, announced that they will remove a conmemorative brick which had Hernandez' name from Gainesville Stadium.
Hernandez is also accused of shooting a man in the face in a February incident which led the accuser to lose an eye. The man is seeking financial compensation from the former player in a separate court case.
