Cristiano Ronaldo has had an eventful summer with rumors spreading of a possible transfer to Manchester United. However, his highlight may have come in an ironic twist when he broke an 11-year old's wrist during a free kick in Saturday's friendly between Real Madrid and Bournemouth.
The fortunate (or unfortunate) recipient of Ronaldo's piercing free-kick was British boy Charlie Silverwood.
"It was Ronaldo's first free-kick of the game. It went straight for me so I blocked the ball with the palm of my left hand and the force, I suppose, reverberated up my arm and broke my wrist," Charlie told the BBC. "Real Madrid is a once in a lifetime opportunity - seeing them play your local club - so I watched the rest of the match, mostly in pain considering I still had the sling, and afterwards I then went to hospital.
Charlie did note that it could have been worse.
"If I hadn't blocked it with the palm of my hand I would have no front teeth," he said.
According to reports, Real Madrid has informed that boy that a Real Madrid jersey, signed by the superstar will be sent to him as a gift.
Real Madrid's front man is not new to injuring innocent bystanders. Back in 2011, he broke a fan's nose during a match against Getafe. The man remained for the duration of the match and Ronaldo walked over to the stands to give him his shirt.
