The World Cup 2014 tickets have officially been announced.
According to Associated Press, fans will have to fork over $90 to see the best teams in the world face off against one another. Brazilian students and senior citizens will get a chance to enjoy games for just $15.
The final will cost international fans from $440 to $990, in three category bands; it will take place on July 13 at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. Ticket prices for the opening match on June 12 in Sao Paolo reportedly start at $220 and rise to $495.
The other 47 group matches start at $90 for the cheapest seats and increase to $175 per person in the most expensive seats; that represents a 10 percent increase from the prices in South Africa four years earlier.
The AP adds, "Tickets for the World Cup will be sold globally from Aug. 20 on fifa.com. The first sales phase ends Oct. 10, and a random draw will allocate seats for oversubscribed matches. A second sales phase opens Dec. 8, after the 32-team draw is made and the match schedule confirmed. FIFA said buyers can request a maximum of four seats per match and a maximum of seven matches."
The World Cup faces a number of obstacles next summer. The Confederations Cup saw a number of protests this summer and it is widely believed that they could be more intense next year during the main event.
Furthermore, the country has not finished constructing all of its stadiums for the competition.
