Summer is unfolding. The final weeks are preparing to roll out as August approaches. Like any summer, the days tick away with the clock, each tick bringing us close to the impending fall and winter months. As the season unfolds, so do television's most popular summer series. USA Network's "Suits" is now just two episodes into its new season and fans are already looking ahead to what's in store for the future. The season will outlive the summer and carry over into the cool, fall months, but fans can't wait that long.
One underlying theme to season 3 thus far has been the relationship between Mike and Rachel. Fans obsess over their love story and continue to gravitate towards its heartfelt core.
"Somebody told me the other day, 'You guys are my Zack Morris and Kelly Kapowski,'" Meghan Markle said to TV Guide. "I was so flattered. We can only hope. I love that our fans love them so much and [creator] Aaron Korsh has said that they are the heart of the heart. I think, ultimately, if Mike and Rachel are the Ross and Rachel of the show, then you've got to give them a shot."
Fans may have found their passionate scene in the season 3 premiere a bit ironic after their angry hate sex in the file room in the season 3 finale, but are pleased nonetheless. Sure Rachel may have crossed her original intentions, however, it's a love story. Anything can happen and fans root for their happiness.
"I joked with Aaron, 'She has this pattern. I slap him and yell at him, and the next thing, I'm kissing him or sleeping with him or in the file room with him,'" Markle said. "Season 3 finds her breaking this pattern of love and hate now that they're together. It's so multi layered. ... It won't be quite as volatile as it's been the past two seasons. Now they're on a learning curve of figuring out what a real relationship looks like when you are doing it at the office and they're trying to keep it a secret."
Although their relationship will flourish as the season unfolds, there will still be tension in the wake of Mike's lie about having a law degree. Although Markle remained tight-lipped on how the couple will come to a resolution, she did hint that they would try and make it work regardless.
"The writers know we have a lot more fun when we banter and play," she said. "We are at [episode] 10 right now, so I don't know what the next six episodes have in store for them, but they are trying to figure it out."
"Suits" airs Tuesday nights on USA Network.
