Sarah Braverman is about to get a new man in her life. Last week, TVLine confirmed that "Drop Dead Diva" alum Josh Stamberg has been nabbed for a recurring role in the NBC drama "Parenthood" come fall.
According to the publication, Stamberg will play the "charming and fun" neighbor in the apartment complex Sarah will manage in season 5. Stamberg is slated to appear in at least five episodes, The Wrap reported. Stamberg's character will be called Carl.
No word on whether Carl will represent a new love interest for Sarah (Lauren Graham). Sarah's season 4 love interest, Hank (Ray Romano) will return for at least half of season 5, it was previously reported.
Romano's Hank won't be the only character reprising his role on the popular drama. "Friday Night Lights" alum Matt Lauria was also tapped for half the season to reprise his role of Ryan, a soldier with PTSD who forms a relationship with Sarah's daughter Amber (Mae Whitman).
It has been reported that there might be wedding bells come season five, with all signs pointing to Amber and Ryan. "Look for an on-again-off-again couple to get engaged," TV Guide's Adam Bryant teased. Amber and Ryan had a bit of a rocky relationship last season, as they dealt with Ryan's growing PTSD issues. However, the pair looked especially in love in the finale as they window-shopped for engagement rings.
Along with returning characters and the addition of Carl, fans will also meet Meredith (played by "Lost" alum Sonya Walger), who is described by TVLine as "a sexy, confident fireball of an architect who is working with Sam Jaeger's Joel on a two-year project." Meredith is set to appear in the show's season premiere, when Joel and Julia (Erika Christensen) invite her over to a dinner at their home.
"Parenthood" season 5 returns on Thursday, September 26 at 10 p.m. on NBC.
