Will Wayne Rooney leave Manchester United this upcoming season? The answer to that question remains uncertain, but one thing is for sure: Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc is not interested.
The coach told reporters that while he respects Rooney as a star player, he does not believe that he has a place for him on the team.
"He is an amazing player. His qualities are well known by everyone, but in attack we are well supplied," Blanc said. "We will rather look for players in midfield. If there should be another reinforcement, it should be in that position. Rooney could play anywhere, but his best position is in the heart of attack."
The heart of the attack would be the center forward position, where Rooney is used to playing but is no longer considered the top option on his club Manchester United. Paris Saint-Germain has Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani as its top striker options.
Coach David Moyes stated last week that Rooney was going to be Robin Van Persie's backup in the center forward position, a comment that reportedly angered the English striker.
"Wayne can play up on his own, he can play dropped in. Overall my thought on Wayne is, if for any reason we had an injury to Robin van Persie, we'll need him," Moyes stated during United's pre-season tour of Asia and Australia."I want to be able to play the two of them, I want to use Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez as well. I want to give myself as many options as possible."
Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho has repeatedly stated that he will do everything possible to buy Rooney from Manchester, but the club has been adamant that he will not leave no matter what.
The Mirror reported a few days ago, "Manchester United will not sell Wayne Rooney - even if he hands in a formal transfer request, writes David McDonnell in Sydney."
