Honduras booked a spot in the CONCACAF Gold Cup semifinals when it took down Costa Rica 1-0 in the quarterfinals on Sunday.
Costa Rica dominated the match in practically ever statistical category except the one that mattered. The team controlled the ball 66 percent of the time and took a total of 13 shots at goal; Honduras only had 11. However, the Costa Ricans were constantly thwarted by a tremendous effort from goalkeeper Donis Escober who constantly made key stops to keep his team ahead of the game.
Meanwhile Honduras received a goal from Andy Najar in the 48th minute off a header.
Los Catrachos will now take on the United States, the only team with four victories in the competition. The Americans are coming off a dominant 5-1 victory over El Salvador that featured four assists and one goal from Landon Donovan. The semifinal will take place on Wednesday.
