'Superman & Batman' Movie news Update: Zack Snyder slated to Direct in 2015

Zack Snyder will reteam with David Goyer and Christopher Nolan for a new Superman and Batman film.

During the Warner Bros panel at Comic-Con Snyder and "Man of Steel" actor Harry Lennix announced the upcoming film and showed a logo of Superman and Batman merged together.  Snyder said he would direct the film and co-write it with Goyer. He added that Nolan would serve as Executive Producer and that the film is in pre-production. Warner Bros later confirmed the news in a press release which also announced that Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane would reprise their roles from "Man of Steel." They also said that Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder would produce the film. However they failed to speak about the Batman cast. 

The news was first announced by the LA Times who's inside sources said that the studio would announce the film during its panel. The news source also revealed that Henry Cavill would return as the "Man of Steel." However no word was said on who would play Batman. The source stated the Christian Bale would not play the role but the source's information was based on Bale's statements last month. The Welsh actor said that it was time for change and to move on.

The film is expected to launch in 2015 and adds yet another franchise film to the already crowded year. So far "The Avengers 2," "Jurassic Park 4," "The Hunger Games Mockingbird Part 2," "Star Wars Episode 7," Independence Day 2," "The Fantastic Four," "Ant Man," and "Pirates of the Caribbean 4" are all slated for release that year.

Snyder recently directed the Superman reboot "Man of Steel" which received mixed reviews but scored over $283 million at the domestic box office and $621 million worldwide. The film also starred Russell Crowe, Michael Shannon, and Kevin Costner.

The last Batman movie was released in 2012 and was titled "The Dark Knight Rises." The movie went on to make $448 million domestically and made $1.084 billion worldwide. The film starred Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
