Warner Bros has announced that a "Flash" movie will happen.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, sources stated that Warner Bros is planning a film for 2016. However Warner Bros has not confirmed the news. Indiewire stated the studio was trying to make a secret announcement but word has spread that the film will indeed to be released.

The news came with the announcement that Warner Bros was planning a Superman and Batman movie that would reunite Zack Snyder and Henry Cavill for the movie.  The Hollywood Reporter is also reporting that the "Flash" movie would be a precursor to the upcoming "Justice League" film which would be released in 2017.

Warner Bros has attempted to develop DC comic movies for a number of years. After the success of 2005's "Batman Begins" the studio attempted to reboot Superman with "Superman Returns" but was met with angry fans, mixed reviews and a box office bomb. In 2011 the studio released the "Green Lantern" which was also met with terrible reviews and a horrible box office. Other critical and box office comic flops Warner Bros has witnessed include "Watchmen," "Catwoman," and "Jonah Hex."

The Flash is one of the most popular DC comic book characters. The character was created by Gardner Fox and artist Harry Lampert in 1940. The character, named Barry Allen, is associated with Justice League and is also known for his power with the lightning bolt.

It is unknown yet when Warner Bros will make the official announcement but if the film is really happening more news will definitely come in the next months.
