The BBC's incredibly popular version of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's detective series, "Sherlock," made its first appearance at this year's San Diego Comic-Con and revealed some exciting details about the show's upcoming third season (or "series" if you're in Britain). The show's lead stars, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman were unable to attend the panel session, but sent fans a special video hello.

Despite not being able to attend, Cumberbatch and Freeman's video had audiences laughing, especially when Cumberbatch (Sherlock) decided to spill some secrets revolving the show's upcoming season. "It's been so much fun, the scripts are just a delight," the in-demand Brit said. "F--- it, I'm going to tell you how Sherlock survived...I know you guys like your spoilers and I feel so much better telling you. Freedom!"

Fans can watch the video, which was obtained by EW.com, here.

Executive producers/co-creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, as well as EP Sue Vertue, shared a video sequence of the upcoming season's second episode. According EW, the video "had the audience in stitches," while showing clips of Watson's wedding.

Moffat told reporters that the upcoming season has "slightly more humor." EW also reported that the scenes between Watson (Freeman) and Sherlock "led to an audible 'awwww' in the audience."

Along with details of the upcoming nuptials, the panel revealed that season 2's cliffhanger ending would be resolved quickly. Gatsis, who also co-stars in the show, added that Sherlock's enemy Moriarty is definitely dead. "He shot himself through the brain stem," he said. "You don't come back from that."

While the third season is clearly locked down, a fourth season might also be on the horizon. According to EW, a fourth season "appears to be all-but a sure thing."  Vertue confirmed that all the actors are "optioned for a fourth series." As for the season three finale, Moffat teased, "You'll be watching the end of the last episode thinking, 'They wouldn't stop it there?! They wouldn't stop it there?! Oh my God, they wouldn't stop it there?!'"

"Sherlock" season three returns to Masterpiece on PBS in 2014 with "The Empty Hearse."
