According to Us Magazine George Clooney was weighing his options during his relationship with WWE star Stacey Kiebler. A source close to the actor told the magazine that while Clooney was still dating Kiebler, he tried to pursue Latina actress Eva Longoria. Clooney and Keibler ended their two-year relationship earlier this month.
The source told the celebrity magazine, "George began pursuing Eva and he told her that he was still with Stacy, but had plans to break up with her and was interested in being with Eva."
The two actors met while working on the campaign of President Barack Obama back in 2008. According to the publication, a strong relationship between the two developed because of their similar politics and world view. "Both of them are very intelligent and they are very passionate about the political views they have in common," the magazine said.
Clooney and Longoria spent time together at Soho House in Berlin last March, when both stars were in Germany working on different projects. Reports suggest Longoria let Clooney know that nothing would happen between the two if he was still attached to someone else.
Another source told The Sun newspaper, "Chemistry is palpable whenever they're in the same room and mutual friends have been backing the union, saying what a great couple they'd make."
Apparently the actor went as far as to invite Longoria to his house in Lake Como in Italy.
Longoria, who has recently been linked to Miami-based entrepeneur Ernesto Arguello, took to Twitter to respond to the rumors saying, "As interesting as the George Clooney rumors are, they aren't true. George and I have been friends for years."
The wording of her response has had some people on the Internet wondering if the star herself would be open to the possibility of dating Clooney at some point. One user replied. "Eva, what do you mean by interesting?"
The controversial website Dlisted says that the rumor itself was put out there by Longoria citing how the phrasing and angle of the article portrayed the Latino star under a positive light.
Both Clooney and Longoria are set to star in some of the most expected films of the year. Clooney stars in Mexican director Alfonso Cuaron's space drama "Gravity," while Longoria will have a role in the star-studded sequel to the film "Machete," "Machete Kills."
