Dreamworks has announced that Cate Blanchett, Djimon Hounsou and Kit Harrington will join the cast of "How to Train Your Dragon 2."

During a panel at Comic-Con, the company announced that the three actors would join the project. Following the announcement Harrington made an appearance at the convention and joined the film's director Dean Deblois.

A video was then shown with the film's main character Hiccup and his pet dragon Toothless meeting a new mysterious rider.

The crowd went wild and Debois thanked them by saying, "We have a long road ahead of us, so this is a nice shot in the arm." The director revealed that the sequel takes place five years after the first movie, and puts the Vikings and the dragons against a new threat.

Debois also revealed that he was inspired by "Star Wars Episode 5: Empire Strikes Back" when approaching the new installment.

Blanchett is best known for her role as Queen Elizabeth in "Elizabeth" and "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" She will next appear in Woody Allen's "Blue Jasmine and "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug." Harrington is known for his work on "Game of Thrones" and "Silent Hill:Revelation." He will next be seen in "Pompeii" and "Seventh Son."

Hounsou last appeared in "The Tempest" and "Elephant White." He will next be seen in "Seventh Son" and "The Vatican Tapes."

The first installment "How to Train Your Dragon" is considered one of the best Dreamworks animation films every created by the company. The film scored rave reviews with an aggregate score of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. It also went on to gross $217 million at the box office and also obtained two nominations at the Academy Awards.

Fox is slated to release the sequel on June 20, 2014.
