The announcement of the NHL schedule will be delayed yet another day.
According to numerous reports, the original schedule was supposed to be unveiled on Wednesday, July 17. However, it seems that the league has not been able to come to terms with players and their participation in the Olympics next season.
"There has been no final agreement on the terms of Olympic participation at this point," Said NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly according to NHL.com. "And unless, or until, there is, the release of the 2013-14 regular-season schedule would be premature. Having said that, we hope that a final resolution on both matters can be achieved in the very near future."
According to CBS Sports, "It has been said the Olympic negotiations were pretty much at the point of crossing the t's and dotting the i's. Conclusion: There must be a lot of i's and t's in the contracts. That, or they aren't quite to that point."
The Olympics are slated to take place in Russia next winter during February. A recently leaked picture of the presumed Florida Panthers' schedule indicates that there would be a two week break in February. However, the Panthers' organization has not confirmed anything at the moment.
